Happy Feet Paediatric Centre

Irene Koope

I am a Nurse Practitioner and Credentialled Diabetes Educator at the Nepean Diabetes Service and in my private practice. I have been a Credentialed Diabetes Educator since 2004 and an Endorsed Nurse Practitioner since 2011.
I provide comprehensive assessments and management of inpatients and outpatients, and I review new procedures and technology in relation to best diabetes practice, implementing state-of-the-art equipment in our hospitals.
I lecture at U.Sydney and UTS in both undergraduate and postgraduate courses for medical and nursing students, as well as for NSW Ambulance in Paramedic and Extended Care Paramedic courses. I was the course coordinator at UTS for the Master of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner, and the Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Management from 2012 to 2014. I was the nursing co-chair of the ACI Diabetes and Endocrine Network for NSW from 2018 to 2025.
As a parent and grandparent to children with Type 1 Diabetes, I have a strong personal connection to diabetes care and combine this with my extensive professional experience to provide holistic, compassionate and innovative diabetes management services.
